1．ケリー氏の紹介

Welcome, everyone. We’re very glad to see you all here.
I am Todd Stern, US special envoy for climate change.
And it’s my real pleasure and previledge to be able to introduce to you a speaker of this afternoon,
the Secretary of State, John Kerry.
As many of you may know, he’s a no stranger to this process.
I’ve heard that it’s said that the Secretary has been to every major COP since the beginning.
I can personally attest him to be in first 2 important COPs, as I was there
at Kyoto, and many years later at Copenhagen.
Sometimes he would be the only representative from US congress there.

President Obama met with the leader of China, Xi-Jing-Ping,
and there they came to an agreement on Climate Change.
Whao! Really?
Now, let me give you details of that on a second, but first, let’s remember what the Republican said,
that they didn’t want take any action on climate change because the Chinese wouldn’t go along.
If the Chinese go along, I imagine they would of course change their mind, right?
Well, take a look at the republicans’ main complaints.

中国が一緒に行動してくれるんなら、共和党も考えを変えるはずだが。そう思うだろう？
